OpenBuildings GenerativeComponents Help

Edit Node

Used to edit node properties by altering node information, technique, and symbology. The tool activates the Node Properties dialog and selected node properties are available to alter.

Accessed from:

  • Ribbon: Computational Design > Home > Modify > Edit Node
  • Graph: right-click > Edit
  • Node Types dialog: Edit New Nodes checked
  • Toolbox - Modify Node

The Node Properties dialog is used to view and change properties of the selected node. You can use the search option and narrow down the search to reach a desired property and edit it. The changes can be held before they are applied by using the tick mark tool icon.
SettingDescription
Node Information Node information contains the default requirements of a node. This establishes a node's presence on the graph, the name of the node, and its type and technique
Technique Technique contains a list of the properties needed to create a node. You can create or modify values or functions in the text field to the right of the property.
Note: Additional fields –CatalogItem, Part etc., are populated when opened in a host application, such as OpenBuildings™ GenerativeComponents.
General General contains a list of properties and property values associated with the visualization of a node's attributes. Changing the value of a property changes the visualization.
Taskbar tools The tool icons on the task bar are used in association with Node Properties operations.
  • (Hold Changes until applied) — changes made to the nodes are held and are applied once the Apply Changes tick mark icon is clicked.
  • (Apply Changes) —changes made to the nodes are applied to selected node.
  • (Cancel Changes) — changes made to the node are discarded without affecting the selected node.
  • (Whenever nodes are selected, insert their names in current field) — when on, the name of the selected node (click in the graph view to change node) is taken in current field as value. For example, start point, end point values can be quickly filled by selecting desired node points in the graph.
